Troubleshooting
Helpful solutions to problems you may encounter (under construction).
Searching
My searches return no results
Before searching can be done, you must do a Full Population. This is can
be done by going to the "Full Text" page within your
collection area. Schedules can be setup to automatically crawl and update
the index on a regular basis without any user interaction.
Crawling/Indexing
When crawling my site, I receive "Fetch timeout" errors
This can occur when crawling your site too fast. To slow down
the spider, enable the "Friendly Crawling" feature on the "Following"
page. Once this is has been set, simply click the "Revisit Indexed
Documents" link from the Status screen to re-crawl your Web site.
When crawling my site, I receive "The underlying connection was closed"
errors
This can also occur when crawling your site too fast. See above answer to
slow down the spider.
The indexed page count doesn't match the amount of pages on my site
The first thing to do is to check the log file. The log will provide
information as to why any pages were skipped. The log file can be viewed
by selecting the "Logs" page.
Another possible problem is where your starting URL contains www but your static
URLs do not (example: Starting URL = http://www.mysite.com/, site
links = http://mysite.com/). If this is the case, simply add
both http://www.mysite.com/ and http://mysite.com to the
Starting URLs list in the "Starting" page.
