Frequently asked questions about the InnerpriseSearch service.
Pre-Sales Questions
How many pages can I index?
The number of documents you can index is based on your plan. The FREE
plan allows you to index up to 1,000 documents. Documents can be indexed
from any public location -- it does not need to be from your own Web site.
How often can I have my site re-indexed?
All accounts get unlimited on-demond re-indexing allow you to re-index any time
you want, day or night. All accounts also allow you to setup a schedule
for automated re-indexing at specified times.
Do you index PDF, Word, Excel, or Rich Text Files?
Yes! All plans include the ability to index PDF, Word, Excel, and RTF file
types.
Do you have a demo site using your search engine?
Both the InnerpriseSearch.com and
Innerprise.net Web sites search
engines are normal user accounts.
Do you display advertising?
No! The only advertising on your search result pages is our "Powered By"
logo which is shown at the very bottom of each page. No other advertising
is shown on your pages -- not even with the free account.
Can more than one site be combined into a single index?
Yes! There are no limits imposed on the number of different sites you can
index into a single index.
Can the search results be customized?
Yes! You can add your own top and bottom HTML code to create your look
and feel. In addition, you can control the colors and what is displayed.
Can visitors to my site submit their own URLs for indexing?
Yes! Your visitors can submit their own URLs to your search engine.
With the advanced features you can filter out submitted URLs based on
content. NOTE: This is still under developement.
Can create a topic specific search engine?
Yes! With our service you can index pages based on the content they
contain using keyword filters. You can instruct the spider to crawl the
Web indexing only the pages that match your keywords.
General Questions
I've forgotten my password
Use our password request form to have your password emailed to you.
When searching, I'm seeing someone elses search results
Make sure you are using the correct value as your hidden id field. This
value is shown as your collection name within the administrator area.
When I search, no results are returned
After you've crawled using the administrator area, you must start the Full-Text
Indexing from the Full Text page. Simply click the Full Population
button, wait one minute, and then search again.
Do I have to specify more than one Starting URL?
No. Our software is a Web crawler. It will find more URLs from your
Starting URL. If indexing your own site, your Starting URL should be your
home page URL.
Can I prevent a page from being indexed?
Yes. Using the robots Meta tag, you can specify that you do not want the
page indexed. Simply add the following to the top of your Web page
in your <head></head> section: <meta name="robots"
content="noindex">.
Will my search engine obey robots.txt?
Yes. Our search technology fully supports the robots exclusion.
Why does the log show error messages for some of my pages when crawling?
These errors are described in the online help.
How do I close my account?
Closing your account is easy! Simply cancel the subscription by logging
into your PayPal account. We will receive the notifications and close
your account on our end. You will no longer be charged. If
using a free account, simply contact us at
support@innerprisesearch.com to let us know you would like your account
closed.
